United on 2nd alarm in Springville

This morning just before 2:00 AM United Ladder and Engine were alerted as part of the 1st alarm assignment for the working building fire in Springville Fire Company’s first due.

While responding Springville 32 would request the 2nd alarm for a large vacant commercial building heavily involved.

On the arrival of Springville Pumper Tanker a portable master stream appliance was placed in service on the fire. United ladder would arrive and lay a 5” supply line into the scene and set up for master stream operations utilizing the ladder pipe. Triton Hose Company #1 Station 7 engine would establish a dump site to supply the 5” supply line.

United Engine would be assigned to establish of fill site north of Springville assisted by Rush Fire Department engine who was also covering any additional incoming incidents.

Command would request an additional engine from Nicholson Fire Company and all tankers from the 3rd alarm to supplement water supplies. Nicholson Engine would establish a water supply at the newly installed dry hydrant on Teel Rd.

Companies would operate for nearly four hours extinguishing the fire.

Companies operating included Springville Fire Co, United Fire Company, Elk Lake Fire Co, Rush Fire Company, Nicholson Fire Company, Hop Bottom Hose Company, Factoryville Fire Co. Station 9, Lake Carey Vfc, Triton Hose Company, Meshoppen Fire Company, Laceyville Goodwill Fire Company, Northmoreland Township Volunteer Fire Company, Fleetville Vol Fire Co. of Benton Township, Montrose Minutemen, and Tunkhannock Community Ambulance Association.

As always, all departments worked wonderfully together and this article is meant in part to show the expanse of departments that are called on to work together at incidents in our local communities. We truly appreciate being a part of this fraternity serving our citizens.
